Construction Update (Dec. 6, 2024)
Crews are near completion of dredging the upper pond and are preparing the path for the future boardwalk and are starting to dredge the lower pond area. The City broke ground on the new pedestrian tunnel that will be installed under Medlock Bridge Road at the lower pond.
Crews are grading around the upper pond to establish the new pond edge and the tiered seating area across the pond which will face the future amphitheater. Pipes for storm drainage systems are being installed around the upper pond.
What’s Ahead:
Crews are beginning to install foundational support piers for the future decks and elevated boardwalks replacing the old wooden bridges at the north end of the project. Steel rebar for the walls along with other materials will be installed in the next couple of weeks.
Timeline:
Construction is expected to be completed in summer 2026.
Construction begins on the Town Center Pedestrian Crossing and Tunnel
The new pedestrian tunnel will provide a safe, accessible crossing under Medlock Bridge Road (SR 141), connecting residents and visitors to the vibrant Town Center area and the new park behind Johns Creek City Hall.
Key highlights of the project include:
- The crossing will link the Town Center to retail and restaurants on the west side of Medlock Bridge Road, inviting travelers to explore and enjoy the area.
- The design features a beautiful arch culvert underpass, creating a welcoming gateway into Johns Creek.
- This tunnel is part of a broader vision to connect our community and establish a thriving Town Center as a hub for both residents and visitors.
This project will be a key part of Johns Creek’s growth and future, providing safe, easy access to the Town Center and enhancing our City’s connectivity. - Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2025.
Creekside Park Trail Phase 1
The City recently completed a trail connection from Medlock Bridge Road to the interior of Creekside Park adjacent to the Hyatt Place Hotel. This trail connection project represents the first phase of Creekside Park construction.
The trail project amplifies the City’s commitment to pedestrian connectivity in the Town Center area. It’s also an opportunity for incorporating a healthy lifestyle and improved quality of life in our community, which is emerging as a leader in health, wellness, and innovation.
Don’t miss the public art sculpture, “Ferns,” which is located on the trail adjacent to the Hyatt Place Hotel.
