Mayor John Bradberry, Mayor Pro Tem Stacy Skinner, City Council member Larry DiBiase, Rep. Scott Hilton, Fulton County Commissioner Bridget Thorne, Fulton County School Board member Kristin McCabe, Fulton County Schools Zone 6 Superintendent Brian Downey, Fulton County Schools Capital Programs Executive Director Bill Boyajan, Dolvin Elementary School Principal Karen Cooke, and Johns Creek resident Jack Wynn joined Dolvin Elementary School students in breaking ground on the project on Monday afternoon.
The improvement project for Jones Bridge Road addresses pedestrian safety and access with a sidewalk on one side of the road and a wider trail on the other side of the road. The road widening project will allow longer carpool queueing lines and school bus lines at Dolvin Elementary and provide a three-lane roadway with deceleration lanes into neighborhoods and improved egress from neighborhoods where appropriate. The project will also repurpose asphalt areas not required for the three-lane concept into bike lanes.
Construction begins with initial site preparations, safety and erosion fencing installation, as well as various utility relocations throughout the project area. The anticipated project construction completion is in Summer 2025.
