Captain Tyler Seymour currently serves in a command role within the Office of the Chief, where he oversees the department’s budget, city fleet operations, technology systems, and officer equipment. He began his law enforcement career as a member of the city’s inaugural Citizen’s Police Academy before completing POST certification at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in 2011. Throughout his career, he has served in Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and Special Operations, demonstrating a strong ability to lead personnel, manage critical incidents, and implement strategic initiatives that enhance both operational performance and community engagement.
In addition to his primary assignments, Captain Seymour has served as a Public Information Officer, SWAT Operator on a multi-jurisdictional team, and departmental Fitness Coordinator responsible for recruit testing and officer readiness. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Western Kentucky University and professional certifications including FBI LEEDA Trilogy, Supervisory Certification, and IPMBA. Known for sound decision-making, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving in high-pressure environments, he is also deeply committed to community service. He serves as State Chairman for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Georgia and, in 2023, represented both Georgia and the Johns Creek Police Department as the sole state representative carrying the Flame of Hope in Greece and Germany. His recognitions include the Leadership Award, Officer of the Year, and Lifesaving Award.
