After a community-focused planning process, in 2016 Council unanimously adopted the Recreation and Parks Strategic Plan. The community’s top priority was to grow the park system by acquiring additional parkland.
In 2016, the Council boldly acquired the first 131-acre piece of what has now become a total of 203-acre Cauley Creek Park. After a community planning process to design the park and Council adopted the overall concept design in 2018.
In 2019, Council determined which components to include in the first phase of development. In 2020, Council authorized moving forward with construction documents and environmental permitting for the portions of the parks identified for phase 1 of construction.
On Oct. 25, 2021, Council awarded the construction contract. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on Dec.13, 2021 to kick off what is anticipated to be 18 months of construction. The construction has been steadily progressing since which notable recent highlights included above.
