The City of Johns Creek officially opened the new Fire Station #63 / Police Substation located at 9880 Brumbelow Road on March 31.
Mayor John Bradberry, Mayor Pro Tem Erin Elwood, Council members Stacy Skinner, Bob Erramilli, Larry DiBiase, and Chris Coughlin joined Fire Chief Jeff Johansen, Police Chief Mark Mitchell, and many community members to mark the grand opening of the fire station on Tuesday.
“This reflects the City’s continued commitment to public safety,” said Bradberry. “As one of the safest communities in the country, we continue to invest in the people and infrastructure that will help protect and strengthen Johns Creek for years to come.”
The new 14,675-square foot combined fire and police station is located on a 2.11-acre site on Brumbelow Road. The state-of-the-art station includes a 13,891-square foot station house and a 766-square-foot storage facility. It features two double-depth bays for trucks, work areas, a kitchen and dining room, day room facilities, bunk rooms, an apparatus bay, and more.
“This new station represents a major investment in the safety and service of our community,” said Johansen. “By combining fire and police operations under one roof, we’re improving coordination, reducing response times, and ensuring our teams have the modern facilities they need to serve Johns Creek at the highest level.”
The new station replaces the Fire Station 63 building located a half-mile away on Old Alabama Road as well as the former police substation located in The Fresh Market shopping center on Old Alabama Road.
“By working side-by-side, we’re able to collaborate more effectively, respond more efficiently, and continue building the strong relationships that are at the heart of public safety in our community,” said Mitchell.
