Johns Creek breaks ground on new Fire Station #63 and Police Substation

The City of Johns Creek officially broke ground on the new Fire Station #63 and Police Substation to be located at 9880 Brumbelow Road. The ceremony was led by Johns Creek Mayor John Bradberry, Fire Chief Chris Coons, and Police Chief Mark Mitchell, and Council member Stacy Skinner was in attendance.

“We are excited to begin work on this much-anticipated new station. We have one of the best fire departments in this country and they deserve a home fitting of that stature,” said Chief Coons. “This new building and location will significantly improve the experience of our staff on shift for both the Fire Department and Police Department.”

The new 14,675-square foot station will be located on a 2.11-acre site a half-mile from the existing Station 63 at 3165 Old Alabama Road. The new, state of the art station will include a 13,891-square foot station house and a 766-square-foot storage facility. It will feature two double-depth bays for trucks, spacious work areas, a kitchen and dining room, day room facilities, bunk rooms, an apparatus bay, and more.

Built in 1983 and located at 3165 Old Alabama Road, the current fire station #63 is the oldest fire station serving Johns Creek and the surrounding neighborhoods. It was inherited by the City when Johns Creek took over fire services in 2007.

Swinerton was selected as the lead construction firm for the project. Construction is expected to last 18 months from issuance of the Notice to Proceed, weather permitting. The anticipated construction completion will be in summer 2026.
