The Johns Creek Police Department was presented with the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program (GLECP) re-certification award following successful completion of the on-site assessment.
“Our state certification program helps maintain the professionalism and integrity of our organization,” said Mark Mitchell, Police Chief, City of Johns Creek. “The best practices and standards are in line with our agency culture both as a team and with the community we engage with each day. This award is a testament to the daily effort and emphasis on excellence of the dedicated officers, employees, and our Certification Manager, Ms. Valerie Johnson.”
It is the role of the GLECP to establish standards promoting professionalism in law enforcement, oversee the state certification process, and award certification status to Georgia Law Enforcement agencies that meet the established standards. There are 164 certified agencies within the state of Georgia.
GLECP has developed a rigorous program outlining the state standards deemed to be essential to the efficient and effective operation of Georgia law enforcement agencies.
The Johns Creek Police Department first received certification through GLECP in 2010. In 2023, the department received the Meritorious Silver Award for successfully maintaining Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) State Certification at a high level for more than 10 years. Accreditation Manager Valerie Johnson accepted the honor during the GACP Winter Training Conference in Jekyll Island, GA.
