JCFD launches new rescue boat

The Johns Creek Fire Department (JCFD)’s newest fire rescue boat is officially in service, helping fire personnel respond to emergencies on the Chattahoochee River.

The JCFD Swift Water Rescue Unit frequently responds to emergencies along the river due to quick-rising water levels and fast current.

The 20-foot rescue boat features the ability to quickly cruise the river and can withstand the impact from rocks and debris in the river thanks to a protective coating on the bottom of the boat.

The new boat’s 300-horsepower engine provides extra speed during emergency responses. JCFD currently has two rescue boats, and an off-road vehicle to respond to emergencies on the river.

Enhancing Public Safety is one of City Council’s Strategic Priorities this year. Equipping public safety with innovative technologies and equipment further enhances the City’s commitment to providing an excellent quality of life for our community.
