City Council unanimously approved the construction contract for Creekside Park, paving the way for the transformation of 21 acres in the Johns Creek Town Center area.
Located behind City Hall, the state-of-the-art Creekside Park project will feature an amphitheater, terraced seating areas for concert viewing, 15-foot-wide trails, pedestrian plazas, and pond overlooks.
The amenities are connected by a boardwalk to a three-acre constructed wetland designed to improve water quality and provide regional stormwater detention for future development in the Town Center area. Collectively, these improvements will help make the Town Center a vibrant destination.
The City recently completed a trail connection from Medlock Bridge Road to the interior of Creekside Park adjacent to the Hyatt Place Hotel. This trail connection project represents the first phase of Creekside Park construction and amplifies the City’s commitment to pedestrian connectivity in the Town Center area. It’s also an opportunity for incorporating a healthy lifestyle and improved quality of life in our community, which is emerging as a leader in health, wellness, and innovation.
In addition to the trail, the City recently put up the public art sculpture, “Ferns,” which is located on the trail adjacent to the Hyatt Place Hotel. Created by Julia Hill and Chelsea Darling, “Ferns” was made from iron salvaged from the historic former Rogers Bridge which was located over the Chattahoochee River.
Groundbreaking for Creekside Park is scheduled for August 2024. Construction, weather permitting, is expected to last 18 months from issuance of the Notice to Proceed. The anticipated construction completion is spring 2026.
