City receives GCCMA Community Award for its DRIVE program

City Council recognized the City’s Driver Risk Intervention & Vehicle Education (DRIVE) online teen safe driving program, which received the 2024 Georgia City-County Management Association Community Program Award last month.

The free program, designed to teach teen drivers long-lasting safe driving habits, was created last year as part of the probation process. This year, it’s now open to all juniors and seniors at Johns Creek area high schools.

The DRIVE program had 393 users in its first year, with a 98% completion rate and an 85% average passing score.

Municipal Court Clerk Trina Dargin, City Solicitor Larry Delan, and External Communications Manager Edie Damann were recognized by City Council for their efforts in creating the award-winning program.
