The award represents a significant achievement by the City. It reflects the commitment of the Mayor, City Council, and staff to the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the budget award, the City had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as: a policy document; financial plan; operations guide; and communications devise.
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in 14 mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
There are over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program. The most recent Budget Award recipients, along with their corresponding budget documents, are or will be posted soon on GFOA’s website. The City’s FY2022 budget presentation is available on the City website.
