Project Complete!
The Jones Bridge Road widening project is complete! New trees and landscape plants will be added separately in phases starting in October.
Mayor John Bradberry, Mayor Pro Tem Dilip Tunki, Rep. Scott Hilton, Fulton County School Board Member Kristin McCabe, Fulton County Schools Area Superintendent Brian Downey, Dolvin Elementary School Principal Andy Stein, a group of Dolvin students, and City staff gathered to mark the project’s completion.
The project, from Waters Road to State Bridge Road, adds deceleration lanes into neighborhoods and improves egress from neighborhoods where appropriate. Some areas along the roadway were repurposed into bike lanes.
The project also provides longer carpool queuing lines and school bus lines at Dolvin Elementary which removes more of the school traffic from the main travel lanes thus decreasing congestion.
It also addresses pedestrian safety and access with a sidewalk on one side of the road and a wider trail on the other side of the road.
The project has a few punch-list and clean-up items, including the sound abatement fencing, remaining to be completed by the end of September.
