Beginning in June, the Johns Creek Public Works Department launches its 10th year of repaving the City’s neighborhood streets.
Crews are slated to pave 12 neighborhoods this year:
- Enclave at Farmbrook
- Bellingrath Commons
- Coventry at Jones Bridge
- Forrest Lake
- River Trace
- Brookdale
- Ashley Glen
- Hunters Forest
- Papillon
- Morton Chase
- Mabry Park
- North Bridges
A repaving schedule will be available on the city website and is subject to change due to weather and availability of additional crews.
The schedule also includes repaving the following main roads:
- Ray Moss Connector (from Jones Bridge Road to Valais Court)
- Bell Road (from Johns Creek Presbyterian Church to Boles Road roundabout)
- Old Alabama Road (from Buice Road to Spruill Road; and from Autry Mill Road to Jones Bridge Road)
In 2023, the City resurfaced five neighborhoods totaling 11.6 miles. Paving also included McGinnis Ferry Road from Bell Road to Belcrest Drive. Crews also patched portions of McGinnis Ferry, Findley, Sargent, Buice, Bell, Boles, and Old Alabama roads.
Last year, a consultant drove a specially equipped vehicle down each of Johns Creek’s streets to gauge their conditions. Using that data as a guide, the Public Works staff developed a repaving plan for the city’s subdivisions.
The physical survey of city streets revealed many had a substandard Pavement Quality Index (PQI), a scale developed by the Corps of Engineers to measure cracking, potholes, rutting, weathering and other factors. Low PQI scores reflect poor condition of pavement. The lower the PQI score, the higher the ranking when scheduling the repaving.
