The Johns Creek Police Department is part of North Metro SWAT and Negotiations, a special weapons and tactics unit, formed in 2010 to serve the cities of Johns Creek, Sandy Springs, and Dunwoody, Georgia.

SWATThe 30-member North Metro SWAT team – made up of officers from each of the three cities – is trained to perform high-risk operations that fall outside of the training of other police officers.

Equipped with specialized firearms and equipment, North Metro SWAT responds to:
  • hostage rescues
  • counter-terrorism operations
  • serves high-risk arrest and search warrants
  • subdues barricaded suspects
  • engages heavily armed criminals
