March 2018

Each year, the City of Johns Creek hosts events that draw thousands of people to our exceptional community. Many attendees live here, many are return visitors, and many are joining us for the first time. Our events are an integral and unique way for us to meet, educate, entertain, and spend time together as a community.

Our newly released 2018 schedule provides a wide variety of events, featuring concerts under the summer skies at the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater, kids summer camps, athletic classes, adaptive recreation programs, and the launch of the city’s new International Festival in April.

In 2017, more than 60,000 people from Johns Creek and the metro Atlanta area attended one or more of our 30+ events. We anticipate that this year will attract even more. The City and our Recreation and Parks Division will continue to offer a wide variety of family friendly events for everyone’s enjoyment. The new 2018 Recreation and Parks brochure is now available online, so be sure to mark your calendars.

Our City is home to more than 83,000 people and is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the state and nation, representing many countries and cultures from around the world. Debuting on April 21, the John Creek International Festival is a celebration of that diversity. Created in partnership with the City of Johns Creek, Leadership Johns Creek, Johns Creek Arts Center, and the Johns Creek Convention and Visitor Bureau, this festival brings together different cultures, traditional food, music, and art from around the globe.

Our popular concert series at the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater in Newtown Park is another highlight of our season. Since 2014, the City has offered free concerts featuring a fun and varied line up of musical acts that cross cultures, styles, and genres for music lovers of all ages. This year’s concert series includes five shows featuring the Rumours, Pirate Flag Band, Sister Hazel, Banks & Shane, and concludes with the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra.

For residents and non-residents ages 62 and over, the Park Place Active Adult Center at Newtown Park offers activities like bocce ball, movie matinees, book club, and bingo, as well as social clubs and day trips.  Programing also includes exercise classes like yoga, Zumba, and the Silver Sneakers / FLEX program.

From our annual Easter Egg Dash this month, and the ever-popular Movies at Newtown Park series, to our Independence Day Celebration, and annual holiday festivities in November and December, we hope to provide a brief respite from your busy schedules to enjoy all that our community has to offer.
