City Council voted to fund the initial construction of Cauley Creek Park at its Oct. 25 meeting.
Upon completion, Cauley Creek Park will include a 5K rubberized trail, lighted sport courts, lighted grass and synthetic turf playing fields, pedestrian bridges, and river overlooks.
The park, located off Bell Road, will double the amount of city-provided recreational space. During the development of the city’s Recreation & Parks Strategic Plan, the community’s top priority was to grow the park system by acquiring parkland. Over the last five years, the City acquired five separate pieces of property to complete what will be the 203-acre Cauley Creek Park.
“This underscores our city’s commitment to place Recreation & Parks as not just a nice amenity but an exceptional quality of life necessity, which this council has determined to be of critical importance,” said Mayor Mike Bodker. “Cauley Creek Park will positively impact our residents and our city for many decades to come.”
Crews are expected to begin construction in November and is expected to be complete in spring 2023.
