Georgia Recreation and Park Association names Johns Creek resident as State Volunteer of the Year

Jeno MarvelJohns Creek resident Ms. Jeanne “Jeno” Marvel was recognized by the Georgia Recreation and Park Association (GRPA) as the recipient of the 2019 GRPA Volunteer of the Year for District 7 and for the state.
 
A longtime leader, coach, and board member of the Ocee Park Athletic Association (OPAA), Coach “Jeno” Marvel's contributions and achievements have helped to enrich the City of Johns Creek and Ocee Park Youth Baseball Programs.
 
Coach “Jeno” Marvel's accomplishments are truly significant and of a most exceptional nature deserving special recognition. Coach Jeno’s many achievements and dedicated efforts to the City of Johns Creek and Ocee Park Youth Baseball Programs include eight years of service on the OPAA Board of Directors.
 
Her caring and influential leadership helped establish the North Metro Select League, a select program implemented to offer competitive baseball to advanced-skill players from the recreational program. She also played an instrumental role in introducing and implementing travel baseball at Ocee which offers the highest level of competitive baseball for boys and girls in the Johns Creek community.
 
“Coach Jeno has had a lasting and positive effect on the City of Johns Creek Recreation and Parks Division as well as all those associated with Ocee Park Baseball,” said Kirk Franz, Recreation Manager with the Johns Creek Recreation and Parks Division. “If you were to ask Coach Jeno what she’s most proud of looking back at the years at Ocee, she would likely tell you that it’s the kids.”
 
The City of Johns Creek is proud of all of the numerous accomplishments and lasting programs created under the watchful and developmental eye of Coach Jeno. Children and players throughout the area will fondly remember their time at Ocee Park for many years to come because Coach Jeno helped them, listened to them, taught them, shared in their wins and losses, and genuinely cared about their future as leaders in the community.
