Mike Bodker
 Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker was born in Suffern, New York. He moved to the Metro Atlanta area when he was 5 and went on to graduate from Lakeside High School. He earned a BBA in Accounting from the University of Georgia. He is currently a partner in Norcross-based nexDimension Technology Solutions.
Mayor Bodker moved with his wife Aileen to the North Fulton area in 1998 and became involved in community affairs, first as President of his Homeowners Association, The Communities of Wellington, and later as a Board Member of the Johns Creek Community Association (JCCA).
He served as Treasurer, Co-Zoning Chair and Government Liaison for the JCCA. In 2005, he was nominated by Fulton County Commissioner Lynne Riley to serve on the County's Blue Ribbon Commission on Better Governance. In 2006 he was formally recognized by the JCCA as Citizen of the Year for his dedication to public service.
Through his work with the JCCA, he was appointed Chair of the Northeast Fulton Study Committee (NEFSCO), working closely with State Representative and Speaker Pro Tempore Mark Burkhalter for the passage of HB 1321, which called for a voter referendum on the formation of City of Johns Creek. Following its successful passage, Bodker and his fellow NEFSCO board members formed the Committee for Johns Creek (CJC).
As Chairman of the Committee for Johns Creek, Bodker spearheaded the committee's efforts to educate citizens on the advantages of cityhood and on July 18, 2006, voters responded with the overwhelming passage of the referendum calling for the incorporation of the City of Johns Creek.
In the spring of 2008, the Atlanta Journal Constitution named Mayor Bodker one of its annual "Heroes of Open Government," one of eight recipients overall and one of only two elected officials to be honored.
Mayor Bodker is an active member of the Republican Party and serves on the board of the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce. He is also a founding board member of the Johns Creek Foundation.
He was instrumental in founding the North Fulton Municipal Association (NFMA) in 2007. The Association, formed by the Mayors of Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton, Mountain Park, Roswell and Sandy Springs, elected Mayor Bodker as its first Chairman in June 2006. Most recently, the Metro Atlanta Mayors Association selected Mayor Bodker as its 2008-09 chairman at the Georgia Municipal Association's 75th annual conference.
Mayor Bodker and his wife Aileen have 5-year-old twins and enjoy the company of their two dogs, Bailey and Molly. |
