2013 Public Works Day
This annual event, presented by the City's Public Works Department, provides an up-close view of bulldozers, backhoes, public safety vehicles and other cool machines, in conjunction with National Public Works Week.
Among its many tasks, the Public Works team fixes pot holes, connects sidewalks, builds roads, and reinforces bridges. Its staff manages our parks and special events. The team also oversees trash collection and recycling.
The "touch-a-truck" event offers the opportunity to learn about the equipment used for projects, such as road improvements and traffic signal operations, from the professionals who operate the equipment.
Games, children's activities, prizes, music and food are also featured, while Public Works staff answers questions and demonstrates the department's many services. For kids, it's a great opportunity to learn and have fun.
