'Risk' Watch in Schools

Thanks to the Johns Creek Fire Department's Risk Watch program, second-graders at six Johns Creek elementary schools have safety on their minds.

Risk Watch program in schoolsRisk Watch, a comprehensive injury prevention program designed by the National Fire Protection Association, covers several topics including fire and burn prevention, poisoning prevention, fall prevention, bike and pedestrian safety, and water safety.

Throughout the school year, the Johns Creek Fire Department partners with Abbotts Hill, Barnwell, Dolvin, Findley Oaks, Medlock Bridge, and Shakerag elementary schools to demonstrate Risk Watch safety tips for students. Second-graders participate in interactive lessons with props, models and fire department equipment. At the end of the school year, all student participants receive a certificate of completion.
