Johns Creek moves parks designs forward

October 12, 2016

Cauley CreekThe Johns Creek City Council approved all of the park design concepts for the city’s five new parks located at Cauley Creek, Technology Park Linear Park, Morton Road, State Bridge Road, and Bell and Boles Roads.

The City Staff worked with three separate design firms and solicited public feedback through online forms and two public meetings at City Hall during the development and design process.

The City also used the 10-year Recreation and Parks Strategic Master Plan, which was a result of months of public feedback, to help in the design process to better ensure it meets the needs of its multi-generational and diverse community.

The next significant decision point in the process arrives on Nov. 8 during the general election where voters will be asked to consider a Parks Bond referendum for an amount up to $40 million, which will be specifically used for the development of new and existing parks and for acquisition of additional parks and greens space.

Although the design concepts have been approved, the public is invited to continue to provide input on the design of the parks as there are still opportunities to make design modifications until the final funding mechanism is approved and the City Council is ready to move forward with construction.  Please view the design concepts here.
